James, Managing Director of Vertex, brings almost 15 years’ experience in corporate advisory and equity investment. He leads the team out of the head office in Manchester and is responsible for leading all transactions as well as deal origination across the UK.
Prior to leading Vertex, James spent seven years at Maven Capital Partners, a £800m+ AUM private equity firm. As a director, he executed numerous transactions spanning FinTech, software, marketplace platforms, and customer engagement sectors.
Before Maven, James was at EY, where he was involved in acquisition finance, large corporate refinancing and exit strategies and worked on a variety of deal structures. James is a chartered accountant and holds an Accounting & Finance Degree from the University of Newcastle.
Outside of work, James enjoys playing multiple sports, including football, golf and padel – more recently entering the world of triathlons! Above all – his favourite day includes a nice long walk with his partner and pooch, followed by some nice pub grub!

Josh is a Deal Advisor at Vertex, having spent 1.5 years in private equity. At Vertex, Josh is responsible for supporting deal origination and execution.
Prior to joining Vertex, Josh worked alongside James at Maven Capital Partners. At Maven, Josh supported 6 transactions involving growth capital and private equity spanning various industries such as enterprise software, biosciences, insurance, and retail. Josh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics and a Master’s degree in Financial and Computational Mathematics from the University of Nottingham.
Outside of work, Josh is a keen runner, gym goer, and occasional 5-aside footy bench warmer! Beyond sport, Josh can be found spending time with friends and family and exploring new food spots in Manchester.

Martin, co-founder of Vertex, provides strategic direction to the Board and senior leadership team, drawing on his extensive advisory and governance expertise.
Martin is also CEO of WGC, the UK’s largest provider of outsourced hotel services with customers including Radisson, Accor & Claridge’s, and WGC Investments, a growing investment company based in London. With a background in accountancy and having led WGC for over 35 years, Martin’s extensive experience and consultancy deliver unparalleled expertise and insights to clients across a variety of sectors.
When Martin isn’t contributing to his business endeavours, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is often found navigating the Thames on his boat, enjoying time on the water!

Yasin, co-founder of Vertex, brings over 15 years of transformation expertise across a variety of sectors.
Yasin is CEO of TAMC, a transformation consultant specialising in strategy development and operational streamlining for retailers ranging from SMEs to large corporations. His business has provided invaluable insight to companies such as Hello Fresh and Co-Op and collaborated with global consulting firms such as BCG and PwC.
He is currently focussing on a new business venture, DURAKLEEN, a sustainable packaging company, while actively seeking new opportunities to apply his expertise and support new enterprises – as well as advising the Vertex team!
Outside of work, Yasin cherishes moments with his wife and three boys, often engaging in friendly competitions at mini-golf, where he admits to frequently being beaten by his sons!

Marc, co-founder of Vertex, brings over 15 years of experience in startups and financial services, with his career to date spanning across private equity, industry finance, and advisor to the BSB team.
Marc is CEO of leading food-tech startup OSY Group, partnering with leading retailers to combat global food waste. Previously, he served as Finance Director for a private equity-backed tech firm and worked in private equity, overseeing transactions spanning Accountancy, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Recruitment, Education, and Training. Marc is a chartered accountant with an Economics degree from the University of Manchester.
Outside the office, you can find Marc on the padel court, cheering for Arsenal or spending time with his family, friends, and two dogs!

Melanie is head of Operational Finance, and is a qualified financial professional with 37 years of experience. Her original experience lay within an audit and accountancy environment before moving into a more commercial role within a governing body for Sport. Melanie developed a specialism dealing with not-for-profit organisations, becoming the honorary treasurer of a national charity and also the chairman of the charity’s trading arm, a position which she held for a number of years.
Having moved out of the not-for-profit sector, Melanie headed back into a professional role and, as Client Relationship Director, led the International business development branch of a London-based firm of accountants working closely with regional development agencies and UK Trade and Investment teams both domestically and overseas, to attract direct foreign investment into the UK and to support those companies in their set up and ongoing back office support functions.
In recent years, Melanie has been the Finance Director of a London-based group that focuses predominantly on facilities management and sits on the board of Trustees for WGC Foundation.
Tom is our Tech Advisor and IT professional with two decades of leading business technology innovation. Notably, Tom engineered a pioneering eCare system, an early cloud solution enhancing monitoring and care package delivery for social care providers.
Tom spearheaded the development of a major UK Fintech created specifically for tradespeople, aiming to revolutionise financial transactions in the sector. As the Chief Information Officer at WGC, Tom orchestrates tech strategies across the UK and Europe, bolstering business efficiency and championing rapid technology adoption.
Additionally, Tom works to give back to the community as trustee of the WGC Foundation. He also offers his expertise to various businesses and charities through his tech consultancy. Tom’s practical approach continues to shape the IT landscape for many organisations.
